The value of working part-time and starting a home-based business

After leaving the Navy, I decided to start my own business. I was young and enthusiastic and full of ambition but moneyless. I did not know how to start a business. I had no money to live on, let alone start a business.

Hunger and lack of self-confidence made me call my rich father. “Go find a job,” he told me firmly. I was shocked and said in disbelief, “I thought you were telling me to start a business for myself.”

“Yes, that’s what I wanted to say, but you have to have food to eat and a roof to live on,” said the rich father.

Then the rich father taught me a very valuable rule: “Work to learn, not to earn.”

By finding a job, I was able to learn the skills needed to create the business I wanted; Without starting a business or having a job security. My rich father offered me a job to teach me sales skills because he knew I was a very shy person and I was scared that customers would not buy my goods. He wanted me to learn to overcome my fears. Every day I had to go from one office to another and have meetings with strangers and try to sell them a device that they did not think they needed. This stage of learning was painful, but going through these stages made me a millionaire over the years, and this kind of learning was really an investment. As I worked in the office, I became one of the top sellers but I still had financial problems.

Due to this fact, the rich father taught me the second lesson: “Keep your daily work and start another part-time job.”

“The biggest mistake people make is that they work hard to make money [the first job],” he says, adding that most people do not go for a second job and only go for a part-time job when they need more money. “If someone wants to use this method, he must keep his daily job and look for a part-time job.” This is true for companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon and Dell. The wealthy father explained that most large businesses initially started on a part-time basis. The problem right now is not the lack of big ideas in the world, but the lack of big deals. The key to starting a part-time business is to become a great entrepreneur

Slowly Focusing on building a big business part-time allows you to learn and own a big business for yourself.

Starting a home-based business on a part-time basis can help you learn valuable business skills and topics such as:

• Communication skills
• Leadership skills
• Team building skills
• tax laws
• Guild rules
• Securities Rules

These things can not be learned in a book or in a weekend workshop. They must be learned constantly.

To this day, I am learning these things. The more I study, the more I improve my business.

Starting a part-time business will make you an employee and provide you with a whole new world of unlimited financial opportunities. This is truly a changeable experience in attitude and perspective.
