What is a portfolio?

What is a portfolio?

What is a portfolio?

A portfolio  is the allocation of our assets between several shares, in a way that reduces our investment risk. Stock market participants sometimes  refer to it as “portfolio formation” instead of  stock portfolio. Leaving aside the premise, the premise of forming a  stock  portfolio or portfolio greatly reduces the risk of investing in the stock market.

There is an old saying: do not put all your eggs in one basket

What follows are simple and practical steps to building a portfolio.

1- Do not be a single share!

Certainly there are many stocks in the stock market that have grown by several hundred percent in one year. According to the principle of repetition of history, this growth is likely to occur for similar shares.

Of course, an investor counts the moments to make such profits, but if the opposite happens what you thought ..!? Most likely, our farewell day to the stock market is at that time. When we have  wasted most of our capital due to lack of  stock portfolio and diversification.

Of course, some professors (!) In their writings, imitating external sources, advise you to choose only one or two shares for investment. However, we advise their students to look at the background of the Akontor company symbol to find out the truth of the matter. The company that had pulled some of its shareholders to the hospital by abruptly stopping the trading symbol during the past few months and the news received!

Distributing the weight of capital on several shares instead of becoming a single share is the first step in objectifying the principle of portfolio formation   . Of course, if you are one of the risky traders and you want to become a single shareholder, I recommend that you limit your money at the beginning of investing!

2- Investing in several industries

Even with the formation of a  portfolio  and diversification, the work does not end. If the portfolio

Putting ourselves out of an industry, we are actually pounding water in a mortar!

Creating a  portfolio  from within a particular industry is as stupid as not creating a portfolio. Suppose we choose our  portfolio  solely from within an industry. Accordingly, if the entire industry is in recession due to economic events, all shares are likely to fall in price.

3- Proper distribution of capital weight

Not being a single share and forming a   diverse portfolio of different industries may be necessary conditions, but it is not enough!

Imagine a  portfolio  of five shares for themselves, while 80 percent have formed their capital as a share of’ve assigned weight. This scenario is also a kind of laying our hands on our throats rather than diversification!

However, in the field of capital weight distribution management, there is a very specialized discussion at the heart of capital management. But the distribution of capital should be such that it does not call into question the principle of portfolio formation. It may be much wiser to allocate 5 to 15 percent of the capital weight per share.

In any market situation, you feel you have to devote the bulk of your capital to a share, know that you have a phenomenon called verified orientation, and try to predict the market. I remember writing an article later about the unpredictability of the market, which according to the random step theory is not fundamentally predictable.

4- Stock market is not a holy cup!

Investing in the stock market is attractive, but let’s look at it differently. What if we did not reach the conclusion by applying all the above assumptions ?!

According to a statistic, less than 1% of leveraged financial market traders can make a profit after five years. Perhaps one of the wisest things to do is to invest in the stock market itself as part of an investment. In fact, instead of forming a stock  portfolio, let’s form an investment portfolio!
